About the Department

The Department of Radiologic Sciences offers an entry level baccalaureate degree, an RT to BSRS bridge degree program, and a post baccalaureate certificate program. The entry level baccalaureate degree is for individuals who are not currently certified in  professional areas and wish to enter the discipline. That degree has tracks leading either to certification in radiography, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, sonography or cardiovascular/interventional. The RT to BSRS bridge programs offer certified professionals a mechanism to complete a baccalaureate degree and develop additional professional practice skills and addition technical skills in an advanced radiography area (CT, MRI, or mammography) or in the area of radiation therapy. The post baccalaureate certificate program is a program for individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree in radiologic technology, radiologic sciences, or a related area and wish to enter radiation therapy. These programs are supported by nationally known faculty holding certifications in multiple areas; have published numerous journal articles, published or contributed to textbooks, published review computer programs; have presented numerous papers and honor lectures at international, national, and regional meetings; and are in the forefront of developing Internet based courses in radiologic sciences.

The department is housed in University Hall, one of the newer buildings on campus which is an 88,000 square foot classroom and laboratory building.  The Radiologic Sciences suite consists of faculty offices, meeting spaces, a small computer lab, a gross anatomy lab shared with Physical Therapy, and a radiographic laboratory. The radiography laboratory consists of  four radiography rooms with General Electric Silhouette 20 Radiographic Units, a darkroom, a viewing room for radiographic evaluation and critique, a film library, and a preparation room for anatomy, pathology, and procedural enhancement.
