Entry Level Baccalaureate Degree   RT to BSRT Program - Bridge Program
Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program Special Options Program


Entry Level Baccalaureate Degree Program - Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, and Cardiovascular/Interventional Tracks

(This option is for students who have never attended/completed a radiologic science program.)

1. 
Regular admission to Armstrong Atlantic State University.
2. 
A grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all college work. (Applicants with less than 2.5 are encouraged to apply and may be considered under special circumstances.)
3. 
Prior to beginning the program, the following must be successfully completed:

  • 50 semester hours of degree requirements that includes college algebra and two college English course
 
Four of the five required science courses.
Please note:
  • For nuclear medicine these must include General Chemistry (CHEM 1151 or CHEM 1211 or equivalent) and General Physics (PHYS 1111 or PHSC 1211 or equivalent)
  • For sonography these must include General Biology (BIOL 1107or equivalent) and either General Physics (PHYS 1111 or PHSC 1211or equivale
4.
Prior conviction of a felony or misdemeanor may prevent you from sitting for the national certification examination. If you have been convicted of either a felony or misdemeanor, you must complete the pre-application review process as prescribed by the certification agency and provide the Department with verification of eligibility for the examination. See the Rad. Sci. application for more info.
5.
Complete the Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test (HOBET) by January 10th in the year you intend to begin the program. (Example: If you intend to begin a radiologic sciences track or program in June of 2009; the HOBET scores must reach the Department of Radiologic Sciences no later than January 10, 2009.)

RT to BSRT - Bridge Program

(This option is for technologists who are registered/registry eligible in Radiography or Radiation Therapy. Upon completion of the Bridge Program the student will be awarded a Baccalaureate degree.)

1.  Regular admission to Armstrong Atlantic State University
2.  Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (or equivalent  agency) in radiography or radiation therapy. (if not certified, the student must become certified prior to the end of the first semester).
3.  A grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all college work. (Applicants with less than 2.5 are encouraged to apply and may be considered under special circumstances.)
Before beginning any of the professional courses, the following must be successfully completed:
  • CPC requirements must be satisfied
  • Regent's Test (except for out-of-state transfer students)
4. At least 45 semester hours of degree requirements (RT certification applies towards completion of this requirement as well as college credit for the following required courses)
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II
  • Two college English courses
  • One college algebra course

Post Baccalaureate Certificate Program

[This program is for students who have completed a Baccalaureate degree (see below) and are seeking certification in an additional modality (see below).]

1.  Regular admission to Armstrong Atlantic State University.
2.  A baccalaureate degree in Radiologic Technology, Radiologic Sciences, or approved area.
3.  Certification in radiography or radiation therapy.
(if not certified, the student must become certified prior to the end of the first semester).
4. A grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all college work. (Applicants with less than 2.5 are encouraged to apply and may be considered under special circumstances.)

Special Options Program

(This option is for technologists who are registered/registry eligible in Radiography or Radiation Therapy. Upon completion of the Special Options Program the student will be awarded a Baccalaureate degree and will be registry eligible in an additional modality.)
