What is the Bridge Program?

The RT to BSRS bridge programs offer certified radiologic technologists, nuclear medicine technologists, and radiation therapists a mechanism to complete a baccalaureate degree and develop additional professional practice skills and addition technical skills in an advanced radiography area (CT, MRI, or mammography), or in management.Two tracks are available: Clinical and Management. All of the didactic courses in the clinical track are avaialble online.


Bridge Program Admission Requirements:

Regular admission to Armstrong Atlantic State University
2. 
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (or equivalent  agency) in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine. (if not certified, the student must become certified prior to the end of the first semester).
3. 
A grade point average of 2.5 or higher for all college work.(Applicants with less than 2.5 are encouraged to apply and may be considered under special circumstances.)

Before beginning any of the professional (RADS) courses, the following must be successfully completed:

CPC requirements must be satisfied
6.
Regents Test (except for out-of-state transfer students) must be satisfied
7.
At least 45 semester hours of degree requirements (RT certification applies towards completion of this requirement)
8.
Anatomy and Physiology I and II
9.
Two college English courses and one college algebra course

Additional Requirements:
Students who elect to complete an advanced clinical rotation (RADS 4175 and/or RADS 4176), must present the following items to the Department of Radiologic Sciences prior to the commencement of clinical rotation:


Proof of health care insurance that meets the minimum standards (see below)
Proof of professional liability insurance (must be acquired through AASU)
Proof of completion of TB assessment, such as chest radiograph or PPD
Proof of recent (within one year) physical examination
Proof of current CPR certification
Complete a criminal background check (if required by the clinical institution)
Supply a copy of negotiated clinical experience schedule to the AASU course clinical coordinator

Getting Started:
1. Formally apply to AASU and declare Radiologic Sciences as your major
2. Submit separate departmental application to Radiologic Sciences. You can apply at any time, there is no annual deadline.
3. Submit a copy of your certification to the Radiologic Sciences Department
4. If you possess a post-primary certification in mammography, MRI, or CT, submit a copy of your certification to the Radiologic Sciences Department

Coinsurance paid by participant Does not exceed 20% (except for ambulance services, which may not exceed 30%)
Repatriation of remains $25,000
Medical evacuation $25,000
Pre-existing condition limitation No more than 12 months
Outpatient prescription drugs $2,000 per year. Reimbursed at not less than 100% with co-pays not exceeding $15 for generic prescription medications and $30 for brand name prescription medications.
Coverage required Substance abuse, behavioral health, outpatient physical therapy, maternity, injuries arising from intramural or club sports, prophylaxis for exposure to blood borne pathogens, all benefits mandated by the State of Georgia
